Rush-hour chaos hit part of Lancashire when a section of a motorway was closed by police after a woman threatened to jump from a bridge.
The M65 was shut in both directions as a police negotiator tried to talk the woman down from the bridge near junction 5 at Guide.

Motorists were being diverted off the motorway and back on via the slip road at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, causing tailbacks of around two miles.

A Lancashire police spokesman said: "The woman is saying she is going to jump. The motorway is closed for a very short section under the bridge."

The motorway was reopened at 7.10pm after police successfully talked the woman off the bridge.
