Concern for a missing University of Central Lancashire student increased today after his car was found abandoned in a Scottish coastal town with its keys in the ignition.
Kai Theiroff, who comes from Germany, went missing from his home in Lower Bank Road, Fulwood, more than a week ago.

A land-and-sea search is under way after his German-registered black Fiat Punto was found on a causeway, the main north coastal road on the Kyle of Tongue.

The car was unlocked, had a window open and had keys in the ignition and documents and clothes were found inside.

Kai's parents are to fly over to Preston from their home in Germany to help police.

Police say the disappearance of the 21-year-old, who is in his final year of his law degree, is "completely out of character" and have already appealed to university students in the city to come forward.

Insp Mark Bridgeworth of Preston Police, said: "We are very concerned and his family back home in Germany are extremely worried about their son.

"Kai is a very bright lad studying an English law degree. He's a good student with top marks. The family are very upset and are travelling to Lancashire to see if they can help us."
