The torrential downpours triggered a massive mudslide when a 20-foot embankment collapsed in Preston.
Remarkably no-one was injured when the heavy mudbank slid down at Aqueduct Street, crushing several luxury cars.

Businessmen Leon Thornley was in the office of his garage when he heard a loud crashing noise at around 8.50am on Monday.

Mr Thornley rushed to the back of his garage to find mud from the embankment had crushed two luxury Range Rovers and badly damaged several other vehicles in his car park.

He said: "At first I thought the building had been hit by a car. It was only when I went to the car park I realised what had happened.

"Some of these cars have been completely written off. If any more of the embankment collapses, I could be looking at damaged running into hundreds of thousands of pounds."

Staff at the LG Thornley garage managed to get to the top of the embankment, which is part of the former Goss printworks.

Staff at the garage began moving as many cars off the site as possible to prevent any further damage and are now waiting for insurance assessors to calculate exactly how much damage it has caused.

Damn mud, it's about time the government did something about it, it's getting out of hand.

I hope that permahome estate at Walton Park dosn't collapse down the very steep 'muddy' hill it sits upon.
