Very lucky. I used to fish that pond way before the sports arena was ever thought of, and it is pretty deep! Never caught anything though, but heard there are monsters in it!

Yeah very lucky. But Baldy, you never catch a shopping trolley or anything?

I saw the emergency services attend this (I live across the way) and heard the sirens and looked out, as you do. They were very fast and I hope the man recovers as swiftly as he was rescued.

well judging from the tyre marks ON the roundabout grass i doubt he actually "spun off the road". looks more like he reckoned he was in new james bond but failed miserably and ended up landing over the road and rolling through the fence.
kill your speed, not a fish (or the monster)
anyway, hope he's alright!

tom benson way, preston 11/09/2008 21:39:00
although this accident looks like a act of pure stupidity i do hope the chap is ok, he can help me fix the fence! unfortunately this is not the first nor will it be the last incident on the roundabouts of tom benson way. of all the roads in preston these are the worst i have ever encountered. over the years since the road was built there have been dozens of incidents involving cars leaving the road whilst exiting the roundabouts located at preston sports arena, the waste site and cottam hall lane. i believe the cause in a lot of cases to be due to the type of road surface laid rather than to much speed. i use these roundabouts daily and have experienced loss of traction on a number of occasions even though i am aware of the condition of the surface and drive/ride accordingly. it is my belief that these road should be checked for the quality of surface material laid as i am convinced that the materials used are sub standard and constitute a health and safety risk to users.
