A Preston man was left fighting for life after a brawl outside a pub with another man.
The 50-year-old had been drinking in the New Welcome Inn on Cambridge Walk in Preston before he was assaulted outside the pub in the early hours of Sunday.

He was taken to the intensive care unit at Royal Preston Hospital with head injuries. He is said to be "improving".

A 40-year-old man, understood to have been drinking in the pub, was arrested and was being questioned on Monday.

Det Insp Jan Beasant, of the Lancashire Police's major incident team, said: "The victim has recovered consciousness. He has a suspected fractured skull.

"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault to contact us."
