A man has suffered serious leg injuries after falling from a bridge over a busy motorway in Lancashire.
The 28-year-old landed on the hard shoulder of the M55 after he fell from the Rosemary Lane bridge, close to junction one at Broughton, near Preston.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said crews had been despatched to the scene after reports a man had "jumped off the bridge" at 10am on Thursday.

He is being treated for serious leg injuries at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Lane one of the motorway was closed for a short time while the emergency services worked to rescue him from the hard shoulder.
