A man was slashed across his face and arms during a terrifying raid at his Preston home.
Two men knocked on the door of a house in Thornley Road, Ribbleton, at around 2.40am on Saturday morning.
When the 55-year-old occupant answered, one of the men - who was wearing a balaclava - burst in and demanded money from him.
When he refused, the attacker demanded the keys to the man's motorbike and then attacked him with the machete.
The second offender stayed outside and the pair made off empty-handed.
A police spokesman said: "Earlier in the day, the aggrieved had been at a nearby newsagents and two lads in the shop called him by his nickname and asked him about his motorbike.
"And then one of them bragged about being tagged. We are asking these people, if they are unconcerned with the incident, to make themselves known to police."
The injured man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment. He was due to return to hospital on Saturday to have wounds to his hands re-dressed.
The machete-wielding attacker is described as being a white male, around 5ft 5in and aged between 18 and 22.
The second man is described as being a white male - both were wearing dark sports clothing.
