Vicars should be paid more money to attract new blood into the church says Nigel Evans, MP for Ribble Valley.
He told the House of Commons: "Vicars have disappeared from certain areas in my constituency ... other vicars have had to double up or even treble up."

But Stuart Bell, the Second Church Estates Commissioner, replied: "Parish priests are adequately covered in terms of finance."
