A gambling fan has been forced to remove a "betting shop" sign from the side of his house.
Peter O'Neil, 42, found himself in hot water last month when police and council bosses started an investigation into the red and white sign on his property in Burholme Close, Moor Nook, Preston.
Today, one neighbour said she was relieved the illegal sign had been taken away after more than eight months.
Many people on the estate were unhappy about the sign, with one calling it an "eyesore".
Planning chiefs at Preston Council ordered Mr O'Neil to take down the sign – which read "licensed betting shop" – because it had been put up without planning permission.
Greyhound owner Mr O'Neil, who runs the Miller Road cafe, was unavailable for comment today but he previously said he'd put the sign up as a "joke".
He said he put it up as a prank after his girlfriend, Erica Thorpe, 28, complained about his constant on-line betting.
