Injured biker's call for cycle lanes
An angry Deepdale grandfather who got knocked off his bike is calling for more cycle lanes.
Philip Balshaw, 58, was involved in a collision with a van on Deepdale Mill Street in Preston on Saturday.
Mr Balshaw, who has been walking on crutches since, claims the van reversed over his leg.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital but was later discharged having broken no bones.
The Preston Council ground maintenance worker, of Peel Hall Street, told the Evening Post there was often busy traffic in the area.
He said:"It's a wonder no-one's been killed round here. It's difficult to manoeuvre. People park all over and nobody seems to bother.
"They should put in proper cycle lanes especially as kids want to bike in the summer."
He said police have told him the incident was caught on a CCTV camera sited at a nearby haulage firm.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "It appears we have the registration of the vehicle involved."
