UClan student catches thief
A UCLan student caught out a thieving carer using a teddy bear.
Emma Sampson, 21, who has just graduated from a forensic science degree at the Preston university, noticed cash was going missing from her 75-year-old grandmother's purse.
Miss Sampson, of Walton, Liverpool, placed a camera in the eye of a teddy. Care assistant Yvonne Allen, 28, of Halewood, Liverpool, was sentenced to six months in prison after admitting theft.

Woman on trial accused of fraud
A practice manager for a doctor's surgery has gone on trial accused of a fraud totalling more than £60,000.
After Audrey Ellis retired from her work and moved to the USA her alleged fraud came to light, Preston Crown Court was told.
The defendant, 52, of Hill Crescent, Newton-with-Scales, denies a total of 17 theft charges and 14 of false accounting.

Sentence is delayed in attack case
A hairdresser who punched her boyfriend in the face has had her sentence delayed.
Helen Robinson, 39, of Liverpool Old Road, Much Hoole, Preston, pleaded guilty to assaulting boyfriend Ian Thompson, assaulting a woman civilian detention officer and damaging a door.
Robinson was bailed to August 28 for pre-sentence reports by Blackpool magistrates.
