A group of artists will come together in Preston next week for an exhibition of visual art.
The Images of Hope exhibition opens at St John's Minster, Church Street, on Monday at 10am. Admission is free.

It will feature visual artworks and some poetry by local people.

Project organisers hope that in the present climate of "doom and gloom" the event will inspire people to take a more positivelook at life.

The event is part of the national Hope 08 initiative, in which churches seek to transform their communities through creative projects.

The exhibition will take place at St John's Minster from Monday, November 24 to Friday November 28, from 10am to 4pm and  Saturday, November 29 from 10am to 3pm.
