A family-of-nine's summer holiday has been spoilt by the theft of their rare 12-seater Land Rover.
Sally Leigh, of Meadway, near Clayton-le-Woods, and her seven children face being stuck indoors after finding their Land Rover Defender 110 had been taken from their driveway.

Mrs Leigh, 34, bought the rare B-reg vehicle for her family in February.

She told the Evening Post: "It's the only vehicle big enough to have us all in at once. I feel like I have been left in the lurch.

"It's not me or my husband who will miss out – it will be the children.
"We need the vehicle to ferry the children around and it's basically ruined the rest of their summer holidays."

Mrs Leigh, whose children range in age from one to 15, believes the vehicle was taken between 2.30am and 3.00am on Monday.

She said: "One of my sons said he heard a funny noise at around 2.30am and it was like somebody trying to put a car in reverse and didn't know how to do it.

"I want to know if anyone saw it or has seen it since."

The brown vehicle is shaped like a box and is the size of around three regular-sized Land Rovers. It is fully fitted with off-road equipment.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said the force is investigating after receiving a call at 7.47am on Monday.

He said: "We are looking into it. Inquiries are ongoing."
