The Lancashire Evening Post is offering you the chance to set the agenda and make a difference in the community.
To launch our new Preston & Proud project we are handing over to YOU the readers the chance to nominate a campaign for our newspaper and website.
Thanks to your support we have helped to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities and local groups.
Now we want YOU to suggest something behind which we should throw the full weight of the LEP.
We will study all of the suggestions and then outline the best ones, giving readers the chance to vote for their favourite campaign.
In the past 12 months we have helped save Preston's Women's Refuge by highlighting its outstanding work and supporting fund-raising initiatives.
And in previous years we have helped St Catherine's Hospice through our Love Jeanette appeal and tackled brain tumours in our Melanie's Magic Wand campaign.
Our groundbreaking Stop the Pedlars of Death campaign forced agencies to tighten controls on websites which encourage vulnerable people to commit suicide, while sustained pressure from the LEP prevented the closure of Maplewood House respite centre in Bamber Bridge.
To enter your idea, please outline it in no more than 300 words, detailing the community benefits and why you need our support.
Suggestions should be e-mailed to deputy editor Mike Hill on mike.hill@lep.co.uk (please write Preston & Proud in the subject line) or posted to:
Mike Hill, Deputy Editor,
Lancashire Evening Post,
Oliver's Place, Preston, PR2 9ZA.
Entries should arrive no later than May 27 2008.
