Sporting youngsters ran, jumped and threw their way to victory.
The Evening Post's Get Active campaign came to a winning end when pupils from five Lancashire schools descended on Myerscough College in Bilsborrow, near Preston, for the grand finale.
After much effort and sweat at the day-long track and field challenge, St Mary and St Andrew's Primary from Barton, near Preston, took the big prize.
They won a host of sports equipment for the Station Lane school, provided by sports equipment manufacturer Eveque.
They were pushed close by year five and six pupils from Catforth Primary, Whitechapel Primary, St Francis RC Primary in Goosnargh and Woodplumpton Primary, who each took 30 pupils to compete and dozens more supporters.
Pupils battled it out in relay races, javelin contests, triple jump and long jump, amongst others.
Karen Woods, deputy headteacher at St Mary and St Andrew's, said: "It's good news. It was quite a close competition and it's been really exciting.
"They were really excited about using the equipment. Once they'd been shown how to use it, they could then measure distances themselves.
"We do a lot of afterschool activities here for sports, such as rugby, football, netball and rounders in the summer and there's a huge uptake."
Also present yesterday was the mayor of Preston, Coun Bhikhu Patel, and representatives from the Evening Post.
Get Active was launched last September to give all primary schools in the Lancashire area the chance to win sports prizes.
Kids, parents and teachers were asked to collect as many tokens from the Evening Post as possible.
The five schools who took part yesterday collected the most tokens for their particular cluster group of schools.
To prepare for the big day, they were awarded some sports equipment to be used at an in-school training day last week.
