Firefighters had to resuscitate a pet parrot after rescuing it from a house fire.
The blaze broke out at around 6pm on Wednesday night in a first floor flat in Marine Road Central.

The fire is believed to have started when a chip pan was left unattended.

A woman in her late 40s, who received burns to her hands, escaped with her dog – but had to leave the pet bird behind.

Four firefighters rescued the parrot from the smoke-logged flat and it took around 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.

"Four firefighters rescued the parrot from the smoke-logged flat and it took around 20 minutes to extinguish the fire."
Who's a clever boy then? Trapped in a burning flat one minute, vanquishing this blaze in 20 minutes the next. By the way, your headline is misleading and I intend to sue.
