Firefighters have been tackling a major blaze at a storage centre in Lancashire.
More than 25,000 pallets were being stored at the centre in Higher Walton when they were set alight in Cann Bridge Street at 10.10pm on Monday.

Eight fire crews from across Lancashire were despatched to the scene, at the rear of Higher Walton Mill, along with specialist appliances.

Watch manager Graham Knowles, of Bamber Bridge fire station, said: "Someone had set fire to the pallets in the middle. They run right back to the River Darwen.

"We got it as a fire in a field."

The crew of blue watch spent five hours battling the blaze before being stood down.

Crews from Preston, Lancaster, Penwortham, Fulwood, Chorley, Hndburn and Blackburn also attended.

The mill building was not affected.

A joint investigation will be carried out between the fire service and police.
