A cat killing spree has left two families devastated.
Police are investigating reports cats have died in suspicious circumstances in Preston and Kirkham.

Cacie Wilson, 22, of The Mede, in Kirkham, believes her beloved black tabbies Mimi and Binx were poisoned.

On Monday evening her dad Tony notice
d an unusual shape through the window and went out to find Mimi slumped on a wall opposite their home.

When her other black cat Binx did not return the next morning, Tony went out and began scouring the streets.

He found Binx lying dead in a ditch 100 yards from home, with its collar having been removed and left in the road.

They took the cats to the vet who confirmed the deaths were consistent with poisoning.

Cacie, who works in Preston as a receptionist, said: "We were all absolutely distraught.

"I was crying all night but we thought the other one was roaming around.

"He usually comes in, in the morning but when he was not there at 9am we got worried. My dad was out and he found Binx 100 yards away."

Cacie and Tony along with her mum Kerstin, began talking to their neighbours about it and discovered there had been another death.

She said: "We spread the word and a neighbour said that around the corner someone who has a cat experienced exactly the same thing.

"We think somebody left rat poison in some food. It is so shocking and you do not expect it to happen where you live."

sorry to hear someones pet cat has been poisoned. but cat owners really do need to realise how other people are affected by their pets. im sick to death of clearing cat excrement from my childs sand pit and cat urine from my outside door mat. not to mention the damage they do to native wildlife. im not against cats as pets but there are far to many people buying cats as pets just because they are one of the easiest cuddly pets to own.

#3 i couldnt agree more
im sick of one cat that keeps climbing into my kitchen via the window
walking all over my kitchen worktops where i prepare my childrens food
the owners reply to me was"what do you want me to do i cant keep him in all the time" "close your windows""
why should i have to close my windows?
not to mention it sprays my front door and there is no worse smell

about time i left drawing pins all over my worktops i think

Irresponsible cat owners who allow their cats to roam at night to rip garbage from plastic bin bags, dirt all over your garden and generally cause a mess should be made to clean up the mess or be charged for letting the animal out. There are laws against dog owners so why not cats too?
The domestic cat is not indigenous to this country just like grey squirrels, grey squirrels are now classed as rodent and there have been authorised culls to cut down numbers, same should be of cats.
In the report it says they leave the cat out all night as it did not return in the morning! So if the police are investigating this incident they need to look at the owners.
I know it sounds heartless but cats are a problem to many people, they should be kept indoors and on the owners own property not left to roam on others. But still hold some sympathy for the family must not have been pleasant experience.

One more for the cat-haters. Imagine if people just allowed their dogs to roam free whenever it suited them! Mayhem.

I think you are all heartless! No animal deserves to be killed no matter what they have done. If someone is having problems with cats coming into their house or doing their business in their garden then they need to go and speak to the owner about it and not do something like that. Whoever killed these cats should be prosecuted.
But if cats are going inside other houses it shows that they are not being looked after well at home and for them to go through bin bag also show that their owners are not feeding them enough! There are easy ways to keep your neighbours cats out of your garden for instance certain plants that they don't like the smell of or a divice where it sets off a high pitched noise which we cant hear but they can and they don't like it so they keep away - there is no need for drawing pins!!

To lock a cat up inside all day is also cruel. My cats go out for about an hour a day have a nosey around then come straight back home. Cats are all different and have different personalities just like us they become a part of the family so killing someones pet is like killing their brother!

Think before you act!

#8 has a fair point. The majority of cat owners are in the main responsible people - again, it's just the minority which get the bad press. Cats are beautiful, independent creatures and are officially classed as wild animals, unlike dogs, not all of whom have owners who pick up their mess. Leave the cats alone!!
