Fighting for a chav free Preston,

18/10/2008 09:39:47
I see them all the time and it really gets my back up! A hands free ear piece is available for about £10. What’s £10 when it comes to not ploughing into someone and killing them....a small price to pay. This cheap tramps looks more like she would had been smacked up to the eyeballs when she killed the innocent woman - what a awful mug to have to see.

As #1 says, hands free sets are dirt cheap. What winds me up are those who have expensive cars and have splashed out on the personalised number plate yet cannot stretch to a cheap bluetooth headset. Just people who think they are more important than they actually are.

Though I do get a wry sense of amusement when such a driver goes past a "safety" camera without triggering it...

Mr Realist,

City in fast decline 18/10/2008 10:05:57
I am staggered that Police around Preston do not use this as a money spinning initiative that would not lose them faith with the public. Drive around Deepdale for more than 5 minutes and you will get at least a 10 count of Black 7 series BMW's and Mercs, all with the drivers on the phone. You are more likely to see people around this area with using a phone than not. And whilst you are there count the number of mini-motos and hoodie / scarf wearing teenagers zipping across roads and pavements on old stolen motor bikes

Mr Realist,

Post 4 above should NOT be treated as a racist comment, but as a statement close to fact. Please do not report this as unsuitable. Go and take a look for yourselves first

Hands-free earpieces are not particularly safe either, though. If you are driving, drive. If you want to talk on the phone, stop driving. It's not difficult.

This issue seems to be all across the age ranges. Instead of looking for phones to ears, look at the amount of people looking down into their laps having a crafty text. You will be surprised, believe me!!

I myself do a lot of driving around and all sorts of motorists are on the mobiles, chatting away without a care in the world. The police are not getting on top of this as it seems to me that is is getting worse. It is only when people are being run over or crashing into things that they do something. It is very silly to drive and answer a mobile or text as their eyes and minds are on the phone and not the road.
