A colonel cleared of war crimes has been hailed in Parliament as a "brave man" who "almost became a scapegoat for the higher ranks in the military."
Chorley Labour MP Lindsay Hoyle paid tribute to Colonel Jorge Mendonca during a Commons defence debate.

Mr Hoyle said: "Colonel Mendonca almost became a scapegoat and we should not forget what a brave man he was."
