Another of Preston's streets has been slammed as too scruffy.
Newly-elected Labour councillor for Fishwick Martyn Rawlinson wants to declare war on fly-tippers, litterbugs and run down shop fronts to spruce up New Hall Lane.
He said: "I want to look at a whole regeneration plan for New Hall Lane because it
is so scruffy.
"Empty properties need sorting out, every other shop is a takeaway and the litter is terrible. It is a major gateway. People who live there are ashamed."
One New Hall Lane businessman said: "There has been no strict controls on the takeaways and the council is to blame.
"This year the council has cut down on cleaning. There are too many empty shops. Big supermarkets moved in and small businesses are suffering."
Another business owner said: "These empty buildings are like an eyesore.Something needs to be done."
