The annual crackdown on festive drink-drivers has begun.
Police across the county have warned they are stepping up the number of breath tests being carried out in the run-up to Christmas and the New Year.
Increased enforcement activity will be carried out across Lancashire throughout December.
Over the past 12 months 55 people have been killed on Lancashire's roads and 10 of those deaths were due to drink-driving.
Chief Insp Jon Donnelly, head of road policing for the county, said: "We have found that there is a direct link between the number of breath tests carried out and the number of deaths on the road attributable to drink-driving.
"Officers will use their powers to both catch offenders and also to send out a clear message that drink driving will not be tolerated.
"For me the message to motorists remains simple, do not drink and drive or you will be caught. Lancashire Constabulary will continue to take a firm approach on this issue and I'm sure the public of Lancashire would agree with me that every death on Lancashire's roads is one death too many."
