Arsonists are believed to be responsible for a fire at a family home.
A settee went up in flames at a semi-detached house in Guildford Avenue, Chorley, destroying the living room.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 6.50pm on Friday to find the house heavily smoke logged.

No-one was home but the front door was unlocked.

A couple and their teenage son returned as firefighters were tackling the blaze.

Neil Taylor, watch manager at Chorley fire station, said: "They were very upset at seeing the extent of the damage."

His team remained at the house until around 9.30pm gathering evidence.

The family have been forced to move out and are staying with friends.

Police are investigating.
