It was 30 years after the famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach opened when this video of the attraction as made.
The footage shot in 1926 shows the Big Dipper rollercoaster which had been opened that same year.

This extract comes from Claude Friese-Greene's 'The Open Road' - originally filmed in 1925/6 and now re-edited and digitally restored by the BFI National Archive.

The BFI has uploaded more than 100 films onto video sharing website YouTube.

What a fantastic film. I've never ridden a Virginia Reel, it's a shame most of them have gone, because this one looks like fun.
