The Black Bull Inn, Penwortham, has received the Cask Marque Certificate of Excellence for the high-quality service of their cask ales – after only four months with a new landlady at the helm.
Landlady Anne-Marie Isles received the plaque from Mike Parker of Cask Marque.

The family-run establishment has four real ales and cask mild on tap which were all given the seal of approval for temperature, appearance, aroma and taste by the Cask Marque.

Anne-Marie was delighted with the award – especially after such a short spell in charge behind the bar.

She said: "The people from Cask Marque come and judge the quality of your guest ales twice and we were awarded 'excellent'.

"It's a massive award, I'm absolutely over the moon."
