Parents, grandparents and children can now learn to swim for free in Preston.
The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) has launched its national £2.5m learn to swim initiative in Preston.
Following on from the successful launch of the free swimming initiative for those over 60 and under 16 who can already swim, free swimming
lessons have now been introduced across the county.
The new initiative is designed to encourage non-swimmers to take to the water and will be aimed firstly at the over 50s and 11-16s.
Chris Rinder and Karen Driver from the ASA recently went along to West View leisure centre in Ribbleton to meet Jimmy Khan from Preston Council and two international swimmers, Euan Dale and Daniel Slivinsky to talk about the initiative.
It is hoped the scheme will encourage 100,000 new swimmers into the sport, and is part of the drive to encourage 500,000 additional swimmers in the next two years.
