Manchester City are believed to be near to signing their former winger Shaun Wright-Phillips from Chelsea, despite Portsmouth and Everton also showing an interest.
City boss Mark Hughes is reportedly confident of capturing the player who moved to Stamford Bridge for £21million three years ago.
They hope to give the England ace a medical by the end of the week before discussing personal terms with a £9m move on the cards.
Hughes told The Sun newspaper: "We are obviously keen to bring him back if we can.
"If the opportunity presents itself, then we will be keen to pursue it."
