Real Madrid are still reportedly desperate to sign Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bernd Schuster, the Real Madrid boss, is insisting that Portuguese winger Ronaldo will go to the Bernabeu next summer despite a proposed deal falling through this summer.

The Sun says that Madrid are now ready to pay up to £71.4m for Ronaldo to United who reported Real to FIFA in June for unsettling their superstar.

Schuster is quoted as saying in the newspaper: "Manchester United are going to find it very difficult to retain Cristiano next summer.

"He's full of pride about the idea of coming to Real Madrid, we are full of hope we'll sign him next season.

"He has to be my No 1 priority. I'll expect Real to do everything in its power to bring me Cristiano.

"The meetings we held were really positive because the player was genuinely interested in signing for us."
