Preston North End will face Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup.
Alan Irvine's team were drawn against the joint Premier League leaders in Sunday's draw.

Striker Neil Mellor will get the chance to face his former club - he made 12 appearances and scored two goals for the Anfield giants between 2002 and 2006.

Histon's stunning victory over Leeds did not bring them the FA Cup third-round rewards they were hoping for.

The Blue Square Premier promotion chasers were 1-0 winners over Coca-Cola League One giants United in the second round, but were visibly disappointed to be handed a home tie with Swansea as they watched the live draw.

Fellow non-leaguers Blyth Spartans will host Barclays Premier League side Blackburn if they win their replay against Bournemouth.

FA Cup holders Portsmouth were drawn at home to Bristol City while Arsenal will entertain Plymouth.

Manchester United go to Southampton, Manchester City are at home to Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur take on Wigan Athletic and Chelsea face Southend.

If Morecambe overcome Cheltenham when the tie is finally played after Saturday's first attempted was abandoned, they will be at home again - to Championship outfit Doncaster.

Portsmouth v Bristol City
Sheffield Wednesday v Fulham
Preston v Liverpool
Birmingham v Wolves
West Ham v Barnsley

Fantastic! Its about time we drew one of the Big guns. Deepdale will be packed to the rafters! I hope it is also given a live T.V slot as the revenue will be a huge bonus. Please please please God let Neil Mellor be fit and help try to shoot down his former club.Do we stand a chance? Of course we do,this is the F.A cup and big scalps can be taken. I notice Blackpool have a trip to Devon to take on little Torquay! Thats a big money spinner Not LOL.Up the whites.

Whilst your asking God to make sure Mellor is fit can you also ask that the games isn't switched to a Sunday - so that some of his hired hands don't have to work and miss the game live ????

Live Saturday T-time would be great!!!

Excellent stuff! Bonus for the loyal fans who've witnessed some poor games recently.

If it is on a sunday rev can you not call in a locum priest as a one-off? :-)

Someone asked the other day how we could get the people in Preston who wear Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal tops etc. through the gates of Deepdale. This is a start I suppose. Promotion to the Prem and it'll be job done!

I hope the club make a big day of this, Balloons PNE sign with Posters etc. Hopefully some of the fans who don't normally come to watch will keep coming back. It will be great to see Deepdale bouncing. Come on the whites.

I bet there will be a fewmore than last night on Deepdale for the game.

Makes me sick.

Incidentally, they must be given the whole Kop to maximise the income potential.

Yes Tom its amazing that we're only averaging 11,000 every home game this season, but we'll have a full house for the Liverpool game, where do all the plastics come from? its like when we've been to Cardiff and take 30,000.

STILL LETS ENJOY IT!!! WE SHOULD BE PLAYING THESE GAMES WEEK IN, WEEK OUT, WHO KNOWS IF OUR RECENT FORM CONTINUES MAYBE THE PREMIERSHIP IS A DISTINCT POSSIBILITY NEXT SEASON....
