Tottenham Hotspur assistant boss Gus Poyet, whose former clubs include Chelsea, Leeds United and Swindon Town, is the favourite with the bookmakers to replace Kevin Keegan at Newcastle United.
Keegan resigned the Toon on Thursday over differences with owner Mike Ashley.
Poyett has been quoted as 6-4 with Ladbrokes to take the manager's job, having worked previously at Swindon and Leeds with Newcastle's football director Dennis Wise.
