Preston North End boss Alan Irvine has hailed the travelling Everton fans as 'fantastic' as they chanted his name at Deepdale on Tuesday night.
Irvine spent five years at Goodison Park as David Moyes' number two before replacing Paul Simpson as boss at Preston last season.
And the 4,000-strong travelling support made their feelings towards their former coach clear by chanting 'there's only one Alan Irvine," something which he told the Evening Post meant a lot to him.
"They were fantastic. It was a special moment for me.

"To get the response from the fans, on top of seeing all the staff and David, it was a great night for me."
Phil Jagielka scored the game's only goal in the eighth minute, the former Sheffield United midfielder meeting Jose Baxter's right-wing corner with a powerful header from close range.
North End responded with Barry Nicholson, skipper Paul McKenna and Chris Brown all having chances before half-time, though none troubled Toffees keeper Iain Turner.
North End continue their preparations on Saturday as they travel to Carlisle United.
