Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has agreed to manage a Great Britain side at the London Olympics.
The agreement, which could see the Scotlead a team containing Arsenal's Theo Walcott, Tottenham's John Bostock and Gareth Bale, Manchester City's Daniel Sturridge and United's Jonny Evans, still depends largely on the outcome of a political battle.

It has been reported Ferguson has been sounded out for the job by Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the man behind the London 2012 games Lord Coe. Although the English Football Association is keen on a one off GB team their counterparts in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland fear it may harm their status within the game's international ruling body FIFA.
