Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson says he is less hopeful than he was of signing want-away striker Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham Hotspur.
He has reportedly made a £25million bid for the Bulgarian, but Spurs are believed to be holding out for at least £30m.
Ferguson is quoted as saying in The Sun newspaper: "I've no idea if he will sign. I'm less optimistic today. I've no idea what is going on.
"It is hard to communicate with some people in this life. We just have to get on with it."
