Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has targeted an incredible double swoop for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien in January.
The Manchester City boss was asked to draw up his wishlist and hand it to the club's new billionaire Arab owners in order for them to prepare for the next transfer window.
And while everybody else at City has been playing fantasy football, Hughes believes he has a real chance of landing either one or both players.
The pair would cost at least £80million but that is loose change where the Abu Dhabi United Group are concerned.
One City source told the News of the World: "Mark knows money is no object but he also wants to bring in the kind of players who will fit in with his plans, not just spend massive money for the sake of it.
"Gerrard and Essien in the same midfield would be incredible.
