Former Preston North End, Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham has been fined by police for illegal driving in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Galaxy star was stopped by officers after he made an illegal left hand turn between Fairfax Avenue and Sunset Boulevard and issued with a $160 ticket.

David, who was wearing dark sunglasses and a white short-sleeved T-shirt, was also warned he would be given one point on his driver's license unless he agrees to go to traffic school.

An onlooker said: "David was really cooperative. I think he knew he was in the wrong." David is not the only member of the Beckham family to be stopped by police.

Shortly before moving to Los Angeles last year, David's wife Victoria was tailed by officers until she pulled up on the side of the road and produced her valid license.

Meanwhile, David has regained his position as the world's highest-paid soccer player.

After being knocked off the top spot by Barcelona player Ronaldinho for the past two years, David is now back in first position with an annual income of $48.8 million, according to France Football magazine.
