Emmanuel Adebayor, who had been a transfer target for Barcelona and AC Milan, has pledged his immediate future to Arsenal.
The Togo striker, who banged in 30 goals at the Emirates Stadium last season, had appeared to be intent on leaving the club who signed him from Monaco for £7 million.

He has penned a new deal which will tie him to the club until 2012 and double his earnings to £80,000.

Meanwhile former England, Middlesbrough, Manchester United and Derby coach Steve McClaren has a tough start to his managerial rehabilitation after his new club were drawn against the Gunners in the Champions League qualification round.

McClaren, who left the England job after failing to qualify for Euro 2008, has joined Dutch minnows FC Twente.
