Preston North End have landed a home tie with neighbours Morecambe in the first round of the Carling Cup.
It's the second time in two years the sides have met in the competition, the Shrimps winning 2-1 at Deepdale in August, 2007.

That night, in front of a 7,708 crowd, David Artell netted a late winner for the visitors, Danny Pugh having equalised Jim Bentley's early opening goal.

PNE will host Morecambe on Tuesday, August 11, following the season's opening fixture the previous weekend.

Last season, Alan Irvine's men beat Chesterfield 2-0 in the first round before bowing out to Derby at Deepdale.

The full draw for the first round of the Carling Cup is as follows:

Accrington Stanley v Walsall, Huddersfield v Stockport, Rotherham v Derby, Tranmere v Grimsby, Sheff Weds v Rochdale, Bury v West Brom, Notts County v Doncaster, Lincoln v Barnsley, Scunthorpe v Chesterfield, Coventry v Hartlepool, Darlington v Leeds, Preston v Morecambe, Crewe v Blackpool, Carlisle v Oldham, Nottm Forest v Bradford, Macclesfield v Leicester, Sheff Utd v Port Vale, Cardiff v Dag & Red, Wycombe v Peterborough, Southampton v Northampton, Barnet v Watford, Hereford v Charlton, Bristol Rovers v Aldershot, Millwall v Bournemouth, Gillingham v Plymouth, Colchester v Leyton Orient, Reading v Burton Albion, Exeter v QPR, Cheltenham v Southend, Brentford v Bristol City, Yeovil v Norwich, Crystal Palace v Torquay, MK Dons v Swindon, Swansea v Brighton, Shrewsbury v Ipswich.

I don't want to sound cocky, but in all honesty we should win this one.

Let's have a decent cup run!!

I hope we get a decent crowd for this one as i like Morcombe. I don't think history will repeat itself this time though regarding the result. We are much stronger this time round.

Anderson Da Silva looked a class act when we played at Barnsley between Christmas and the New Year and reckon he was MOTM. See his contract ends next year so I reckon he will go.
He's a midfield playmaker and not that defensive so you'd probably need to play a covering midfielder with him.
Maybe Alan has told Paul McKenna he could go if we get him - reward for long service doubling his wages etc ? Personally I'd like to see Paul stay as he's the heartbeat of the side and an absolute workhorse. Great stamina and spring for a small guy. Without him I reckon the defence would be under a lot more pressure.
