The alleged killer of Rhys Jones, from Liverpool, was found with sketches of guns while on remand in prison for the schoolboy's murder, a court has heard.
Sean Mercer, 18, was stopped in the reception area and documents were seized from him, said Anne Whyte, junior prosecuting barrister.
Miss Whyte said Mercer, who denies murder, had sketches of a hand grenade, a pump-action shotgun and two cartridges on April 28.
Liverpool Crown Court heard Mercer was stopped by police using anti-social behaviour powers 15 times from January 2006 to December 2007.
