North Manchester has been named the most violent place in the UK by personal safety charity The Suzy Lamplugh Trust.
The trust has published the top 10 safest and most violent places to live in England & Wales, after analysing Home Office figures.
North Manchester saw 44 offences of 'violence against the person' for every 1,000 population in 2007/2008. However there is also good news for the area. Although it tops this list for the second year running, the actual number of offences has fallen 13%, from 6,736 to 5,891.
Other violent places include Sheffield, in second and Southampton, third.
