A member of the public tackled a robber after a woman's handbag was snatched in Leigh.
Two men robbed the woman at the junction of Spinning Jenny Way and King Street in the early hours of Monday and witnesses saw the offenders running past the Avacab car park on to Ellesmere Street towards Waterhouse Court.

A member of the public detained one of the men who was found hiding in some bushes and a second man was detained by police nearby.

The bag has yet to be recovered. Police said it is unclear at this stage whether it was discarded or whether the victim picked it up after the robbery.
