“If music be the food of love, play on.”
And that is exactly what vocal coach and music teacher, Alexandra Wood did when she met her beau, James Hodgson.
Having initally met through friends, it was just one year to the day of their first date that Alexandra, who grew up in Chorley, and student social worker James from Worthing, near Brighton, were married.
Alexandra said: “James met me after I had finished an evening at work at Carol May’s Academy on Lune Street
“I only drank water at the time and he decided I was a cheap date!
“We moved to three different bars throughout the evening and spent each day after that getting coffee, taking walks in Avenham Park.
“Aside from a week when I was working on mission in Romania, we spent every day together.”
James took Alexandra for a spa day in Huddersfield where he had planned to propose.
“He struggled to find a time as he said I kept saying unromantic things about arranging childcare for my step-daughters or how now I was pregnant the smell of fish made me feel sick,” says Alexandra.
“He was getting more and more nervous, and eventually just went for it.
“I was shocked and didn’t answer straight away even though I knew it was coming, he had to ask again.
“Then I said, ‘of course’.”
Alexandra adds: “We wanted to get married a year from when we met so then it was all stations go.”
On March 21, the couple, who now live in Preston, were blessed at City Church, North Road, Preston before a legal ceremony at the Registry Office on Bow Lane with the chief bridesmaid and her husband as witnesses.
Afterwards the newlyweds held a recpetion at Angelo’s Italian Restaurant.
