“Craig actually Googled ‘How to tell your manager you like her’ – it must have told him to buy me a few Sambucas in a scruffy old pub and a greasy pizza because that’s how he told me!”
Kitty Ellison from Leyland and Craig Speakman from St Helens, met at a work meeting in Manchester and “liked each other instantly.”
The couple, who are both pre-employment trainers, tried to keep in touch when they were moved to different teams but text-evasive Craig didn’t exactly help the situation.
Kitty says, “Everyone who knows Craig know he NEVER replies to texts.
“Months later when I became his manager he kept hinting I take him out for a carvery which we did on our second date – after he’d done some DIY in my apartment.
“Our first date we went out in Sheffield where we were on a work trip.
“We were there for four days and I’ve never laughed so much in my life.”
This set the scene for their relationship says Kitty.
“Not a day goes by that we don’t end up laughing hysterically.
“Craig has made it his life’s mission to make our little boy, Oscar, laugh every day; he’s succeeding so far.”
While the pair were on holiday in Cornwall, Kitty and Craig took a walk along the clifftops overlooking the sea.
Kitty says: “It was the most beautiful day.
“Craig got down on one knee but ended up on both knees after he accidentally knelt on a rock – I nearly fell off the cliff in shock!”
Later that day the newly-bethrothed couple enjoyed lobster and champagne to celebrate.
And on October 12, Kitty and Craig took their vows at Morland Hall, Penrith, Cumbria.
Kitty says: “All of our guests stayed over the night before so by the big day they all seemed like old friends.”
“The ceremony where we had the ceremony was stunning with views over the valley.”
And instead of favours, the newlyweds made donation to Cancer Research.
Kitty says: “Craig suffers from kidney disease, so I’m doing a 10k to raise money for Kidney Research UK. To donate visit www.justgiving.com/kidneyresearch10k.”
