Guests were given the fright of their life at a Halloween-themed wedding, when a group of terrifying zombies made an unexpected appearance.

Claire Hamilton and Shaun Thomas wanted to give their guests something to remember when they tied the knot on October 31, and hiring live actors from Events2scare certainly did the trick.

Shaun, known to friends as Bob, says: “The zombies were our surprise evening entertainment which no one knew was coming.

“They were fantastic - even if a few people got scared!

“They stayed in character all night.”

Shaun, an electrician from Penwortham, said it was fitting for the couple to wed on All Hallow’s Eve, and the theme ran throughout the ‘amazing’ day.

“We are both a bit strange so it was perfect to have our wedding on Halloween,” he explains. “We had pumpkin soup as a starter to fit in with the theme as well as pumpkin centre pieces, with vampire fang name holders and coffin favour boxes.”

Claire, a retail catering manager from Preston, also went all out to source an unusual wedding dress to help her stand out from the crowd.

Her dress and the groom’s suit were bespokely made by Lancashire firm Unikat Designs, which specialises in alternative clothing and formal attire.

The dress had six different fabrics while the suit had cog buttons with a mixture of steam punk and Victorian styles.

Skater boy Shaun was initially drawn to Claire’s tattoos and red hair when they met on a night out, and she liked his ‘curly locks’.

He proposed on Claire’s birthday in June while they were on holiday in Fuerteventura, and they married at Gibbon Bridge in Chipping.

Claire was walked down the aisle by her sister Sarah Hamilton and cousin Ollie Hamilton, and the couple’s first dance as newlyweds was to the Incubus song ‘Dig’.
