Tying the Knot: Christian Leigh and Joanne Isles

It was a beautiful hot day for the couple, perfect for a wedding, and guests enjoyed the summer sunshine at The Villa, Wrea Green, where the reception was held.

Joanne, 31, originally from Greenhalgh, works for social services and Christian, from Preston, is head gardener for Fylde Borough Council.

The have known each other for a long time as Chris was a friend of Joanne’s brothers at high school. They started dating in 2002.

Joanne said: “Chris popped the question at the top of Wansfell Pike near Ambleside, 1,597 ft up on his birthday in 2015.

“It is a walk that we love with our faithful black lab Rossi, the views are incredible from this point and the weather was beautiful and hot - pretty much like the weather we had for our wedding!

“I never suspected anything as a trip to the Lakes and a walk was something we do regularly - but getting to the top and turning to find Chris on one knee was a very emotional moment!

“Especially because the ring was his nana Leigh’s engagement ring, a lady we loved and miss dearly.”

Their wedding day was shared by bridesmaid Hannah Leigh and Jo’s brother Matt Isles who were celebrating their birthdays too and there was a surprise ride for Chris in an Ariel Atom car arranged by friend Mark Brammer.

Jo said: “The whole day was perfect and everything was exactly how we planned, when people tell you it goes fast they are so right!

“We wanted to do our reception less formal and fun so ‘host the roast’ went down a treat!

“To marry your best friend is the best feeling ever.

And Chris, 34, added: “We loved spending the day with all of family and friends, Jo looked amazing and the day was great especially the weather.”

Following their wedding, the couple honeymooned for ten days at Cala D’Or, Majorca.
