Fashion fans swapped the High Street for Leyland’s Worden Park to find themselves a new wardrobe.

The park’s arts and crafts centre hosted a clothes-swapping party, where environmentally-conscious fashion lovers exchanged their unwanted outfits for other people’s items.

Around 90,000 tons of old shoes and clothes are thrown away in the UK each year, three-quarters of them into landfill sites.

Organiser Emma Leaf-Grimshaw, of South Ribble Transition Towns, said: “We regularly recycle our waste, so why not recycle our clothes too?

“Not only are you helping save the planet, but you get new clothes for free and can have a laugh while meeting new friends.”
