Author write on time to inspire storytellers
Michael E Fawcett with pupils during his visit to Broad Oak Primary in Penwortham
Inspiration can come at the most unusual of times – as some budding young authors at Penwortham’s Broad Oak Primary School have been finding out.
The Pope Lane school received a special visit from children’s author Michael E Fawcett, who told the year five and six pupils about how he was inspired to write his first book after being stuck in a traffic jam.
The writer, whose first book The Mayor Of Rheinhagen was published last year, took part in workshops with the year six class which involved them all helping to “write” a chapter of his new book.
Headteacher Mr Stephen Smith said: “The children were certainly inspired to write.
“They were split into groups and each had to contribute to the book. They will be carrying on with it for their homework.”
He added that the children had been immersed in the topic.
