A man who survived a crash which killed two other people is still receiving treatment for his injuries in hospital.

Driver Anthony Butler, 25 and front seat passenger Jack Hamilton, 24, both died at the scene after a gold Ford Focus collided with a tree on Lea Lane, Preston at around 4pm on Monday.

A 23-year-old back seat passenger was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries including a fractured pelvis and leg injuries.

A Lancashire police spokesman said: “The injured male taken by air ambulance is still receiving treatment at Royal Preston Hospital for his injuries and is in a stable condition.”

And officers who attended thanked local residents for supporting the emergency services at the scene.

PS 3105 Adam Dawson said: “The families have expressed their gratitude to the support given by the members of the public that were present at the scene of this collision.

“I would like to thank local residents and businesses who provided support to the Emergency Services during the closure of the road and the subsequent investigation.

“A number of witnesses have responded to the appeal for information and the investigation is progressing. We are not looking for any other persons in connection with the collision.”
