Car damaged outside pub
Vandals damaged a car parked near a Preston pub. The yobs attacked a black Renualt Clio left near the Old Bull bar on Chruch Street. The incident happened between 11.45pm on February 18 and 12.45am the next day.
Pub is to close
A popular pub is due to close for a major refurbishment. The Adelphi, on Fylde Street, Preston, will close for 10 days from Sunday as it undergoes a £373,000 makeover.
Chuches open doors for confessions during Lent
Churches across Lancashire are opening their doors across Lent. Catholic churches in the Diocese of Lancaster will open every Wednesday of Lent, to give congregations the chance to attend confessions. The confessions will begin next Wednesday and run until April 4 A special ‘The Light is on you’ section of the Diocese of Lancaster website has also been set up. DVD launch in anti-hate crime battle
A DVD filmed to launch a new campaign against hate crime will be officially launched next week. The national DVD, which highlights the damaging effects of hate crime and encourages people to report it, has been produced by a small team of volunteers from Preston and Western Lancashire Racial Equality Council, Lancashire County Council and Lancashire Constabulary. It shows Lancashire and other parts of the country as diverse places that welcome people from every community. The DVD was filmed in Birmingham and some of Lancashire’s libraries. Library visitors and the public were encouraged to volunteer to appear.
Charity talk childhoods
A Morecambe charity project More Music is holding a discussion session aimed at improving childhood in the resort. It is staging the event, called The Good Childhood Conversation, at its base in the Hothouse on Devonshire Road, Morecambe, from 6pm to 8pm on March 6. Its aim is to bring people together to discuss issues and pressures facing children in the community to come up with ideas to improve their childhood. Youngsters from local schools and from More Music will also be consulted in advance and findings of what they think of their own lives and the area will be shown.
