A riverbank has been given a new lease of life thanks to a £20,000 cash injection.

Money from South Ribble Borough Council’s Penwortham My Neighbourhood Forum and United Utilities has gone towards transforming the riverbank at Priory Park, Penwortham with work including the resurfacing of the landing platform, creation of wooden sculptures, an outdoor classroom area and two interpretation boards.

Chair of Penwortham My Neighbourhood Forum, Councillor Jenny Hothershall, said: “It’s been a real team effort to get the riverbank back into shape and now it’s looking better than ever.

Councillor Hothershall added:“The information boards and wooden carvings, once they are installed, will really bring the whole area to life and make not only an enjoyable, but an educational experience for local residents.
