Councillor flies flag for Longridge
Coun. Ken Hind
A town councillor is flying the flag for Longridge after the town was named one of the top 100 places to live in the country.
The Sunday Times described the market town, in the heart of the Ribble Valley, as being: “Eight miles from Preston, big in character, a recently refurbished library, the Palace cinema, a good range of shops, a weekly market, a monthly farmers market, nine pubs and a range of restaurants, which all boost the healthy community spirit.”
But Coun Ken Hind, chairman of the Longridge economic development Town Team said: “What the Sunday Times does not say is in addition Longridge has one of the lowest crime rates in the country, an ideal location for employers to develop their businesses in a rural setting surrounded by magnificent countryside, close to the motorway network going north south east and west.
“For the public the variety of independent shops provides an ideal retail experience for those wanting to escape chain stores.”
